NEW DELHI, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Two cases of honor killing took place within two days in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, in which a 21-year-old girl and a 38-year-old woman were killed by their own family members for having illicit love affairs, reported the semi-official Press Trust of India on Sunday.

Both cases took place in the city of Muzaffarnagar, northwest Uttar Pradesh, where Mukesh was stabbed to death Saturday allegedly by her brother and mother, who were opposed to her love-affair with a youth from her same village, said the report.

The mother has been arrested, but the victim's brother has escaped, said the report.

On Friday night, Rajwati was allegedly killed by her son and nephew, who suspected her of having an illicit relationship, said the report.
